I see Monday’s as the day to try something new. Something that not everyone knows or remembers. My tip for today is to have a go at scumbling.
Scumbling is a watercolour technique used to create soft hues of layered pigment.
Layer the colour in soft, indirect layers to create the hue (colour) and look you want. Gently lay in semi-wet strokes of paint. As you apply more colour, be careful to keep adding water so the colours blend and stay soft. It can be easy to overwork and produce a muddy look, so less is more.
You could also try using different brushes to lay in the washes.
Where would you use such a technique?
I have updated the gallery which is now situated under galleries on the main menu bar. I have included some paintings from creative people as well as some interesting paintings that people have sent in. I will keep this gallery updated on a weekly basis, deleting some of the older paintings, so watch for your painting on the gallery.
And last but not least, some of you will go to find your next project on Friday and realise it’s not there. Friday is the start of May which is the start of a new Month and a new subscription period.
There are two options, you can stay with Let’s Paint and renew your subscription, you can try Let’s Create or you could try both. Let’s Paint will become live on a Friday as normal, and Let’s Create will be live on a Wednesday. Let’s Paint and Let’s Create are £20 each. If you decide to try both, there is a discount and it is £30 for the two. Payable by bacs, cheque or cash.
So if you have enjoyed Let’s Paint, please subscribe for May.
