Day spent at Parc de Saleccia. In 7 hectares all the region’s of Cosica are represented. For the gardeners amongst us it was wonderful. We didn’t get a lot of painting done but there was a lot of reference material collected.
One of the challenges at the Parc was to find interesting leaves. The group assessed a number of possibilities including the mint on the dessert served at our evening meal!
We painted 3 different leaves using negative painting and a glazing technique.
Had a go at painting flowers from the Mediterranean section. These are “Everlastings” which are flowers found in arid areas.
Not enough work done during the day so we had a session on the terrace.
And of course the stowaway has to make an appearance
Ring a ring a tree trunk, a pocket full of posies (and of course other reference material!) , Atishoo, Atishoo…….
All back and working after the visit to the Parc and time to go through the notes and review the reference material. Two teapots and only one cup so we need Mouseangelo to make himself useful and find some more! The aim of today was to take a step back and simplify. 80% of the group are into plants so enjoyed the gardens. The afternoon’s exercises were to use watercolour paints and techniques.
Talking of Mouseangelo…..
Mouseangelo hasn’t quite grasped the task correctly! When Sue said it is time to paint the flowers that isn’t exactly what she meant!
The way Sue meant rather than Mouseangelo’s method! Off to San Antonino tomorrow to do charcoal drawings and to turn them watercolour paintings. Better get the BBQ going for some charcoal to take with us!
